Boza is a drink found all over the ex-Ottoman world. It's a hardy, sweet'n'sour, creamy concoction that can be made from fermented millet, bulgur wheat, corn, oats or rice. A landmark here in Istanbul is Vefa Bozacisi, a small shop dating back to the 1870s. It's suspected that the word "booze" derives from this drink -- but it's not very alcoholic. At Vefa, it's served at room temperature and sprinkled with cinnamon. There's another, more wintry drink served all over Turkey. JoJo ordered one from a street vendor.
