This man spends his day right outside the mercado central here in Campeche making and selling hammocks - and not just to tourists.

Mayans have traditionally slept in hammocks and you'll find that many hotels here, even though they have very comfortable mattresses to sleep on, also have hooks embedded in the walls for those who prefer to sling their hammocks up for a good night's sleep.
