An hour flight south of Hanoi along the coast will bring you to the city of Hué on the Perfume River, home to the Nguyen dynasty of emperors from 1802 until 1945. It's about midway along the coast of Vietnam.

This is one of ten gates into what's known as the Citadel, or The Imperial Enclosure. Inside is the Forbidden Purple City, home to the Emperors.
