Some towns in the delta are famous for their 'floating markets'. They are every bit as chaotic and bustling as the land-based variety. Each boat has a bamboo pole sticking up in the air and attached at the top is the item they are selling, so from a distance you could see that this is a gourd boat. Most transactions take place between 6 and 8 in the morning. Buyers weave through in their small sampans and haggle over prices. When you're ready for a break, there are 'cafe' and 'snack" boats as well. |
