A 45 minute flight south of HCMC into the South China Sea will take you to the archipelago of Con Dau. At present there are 3 flights weekly. The only other access is by a daily overnight ferry or the occasional military helicopter.

With its crystal clear waters and coral reefs it is an ideal place for snorkeling and scuba. It's also home to the dugong, a rare sea mammal that's similar to a manatee.

The islands are still far enough away that they haven't been trampled by hordes of tourists, but things are changing.
