This woman in the central market of Siem Reap is tending her flowers. The shape of these white lotus buds was the model for the shape of the towers on all the temples of Angkor.

We didn't see all the sites - that would involve covering an area of over 200 square kilometers. But we did visit some of the monumental highlights that remain from this ancient Khmer civilization. The next few pages, I hope, will provide a pleasant glimpse.
