When I lived in the East Village I'd head to the corner of 7th Street and 2nd Avenue at least once a week for what the Greeks there called a Gyro Souvlaki.

In Turkey it's called Doner Kebap, but it's basically the same sandwich made with meat cooked the same way - on a vertical grill.
