... and they did.

One evening we sauntered down the Gran Via of Barcelona in search of tapas. We couldn't have been in the restaurant more than an hour. When we came out there were flashing blue lights everywhere. Police cars, vans, motorcycles and helicopters were out in full force.

On the walk back to our B&B we saw that the windows and doors of every bank along the way had been hit by bullets and paint.

The next morning the cleanup began. Barcelonans seem to take it all in stride. Perhaps they see it as just another episode in a continuum of impassioned anarchy.
