Vietnam and Laos share a long border that runs along the Annam Mountain ranges. These mountains have historically separated two worlds. To the east, there's more of a Chinese influence, to the west, Indian --the Vietnamese use chopsticks, the Laotians, knife and fork. You can also see the difference in the serene face of this Buddha on the terrace of Haw Pha Kaew - a former temple but now a museum. |
