Every morning at dawn a food market opens up along a back street in Luang Prabang. Many of the vendors come from the surrounding countryside and sell unusual products - like bats, snakes, water buffalo hooves, or wild tropical birds. There are also boxes of small furry rodents - about the size of hamsters. None of these things are being sold as pets. This young girl is selling skinned frogs and wild herbs. Must be that French influence. |
