Here's the recipe: Find a nhang tree at least 30 years old. With an axe, cut a bowl-shaped hole in the trunk near the base. Light a small fire in the hole but don't let it burn for more than 7 minutes. Take some of the oil that collects and mix it with soft, dry wood. Next, wrap that mixture in a hang khouang leaf and tie it tightly with bamboo strands.

When you're ready to consume it, break off the end and ignite. It will provide hours of light when the electricity - if your village is lucky enough to have it - gives out.
