On our way back to Laos from our summer in the US we decided to stay a couple of days in Bangkok. We've passed through the city any number of times but never got farther than an airport lounge.

Most of Bangkok lies on the eastern bank of the Chao Phraya River. There are river buses like this one that remind me of Venice - but without those Grand Canal views. We took this boat to one of Bangkok's biggest tourist attractions - The Royal Palace.
