But there are other less laborious ways of making batik which nonetheless exact a certain precision. Here I'm using what's called a Cap which is a copper plate already containing a pattern. It's dipped in warm wax and then applied to the cloth. The only reason they let me do this is because it's a scrap piece of cloth. But I didn't do too badly for a first go.
