The Devaraja Market in Mysore is one of the most colorful we've ever been to, mostly due to these mounds of powder, or rangoli pudi, that are piled up for sale.

On festival days, and there are many here, these powders are used to make elaborate geometrical designs (called rangoli) on the walkways outside houses.
