Billboard of the Month

One of the great ironies of the world is that people with dark skin want to be lighter and people with light skin want to be darker. It's all to give the illusion they're in another class - or perhaps "caste" is a better word here.

In the West, by showing off your tan, you say: "I'm rich and I can hang out at the beach all day." In countries where skin is naturally enhanced with more melanin, it is to say: "I'm rich and I don't have to work in the fields all day."

Here in India, there are scads of "lightening" products advertised in magazines, on TV, and on billboards like this one in Bangalore.
