I like Hanoi better than Ho Chi Minh City. There, I said it! I like the climate. Hanoi has 4 seasons: winter-spring-summer-fall, instead of the south's 2: wet and dry. I like the size and scale of the place. Hanoi, at just over 3 million is half the size of HCMC.

This street scene is in the labyrinthine "Old Quarter". In the 13th century, 36 guilds moved into this area and each one had their own street and gave it their trade name, such as Pho Hai Tuong, or 'street of the sandals' - and you may yet find a sandal-maker or two on that street.
