A bus or a train up to the central coastal area of Vietnam would take about 20 hours. But we flew there in 70 minutes.

DaNang is the 3rd largest city in the country and not far from it is the village of My Son, built by the Chams who lived in Central Vietnam from the 2nd to the 19th centuries. They were continually being squeezed by the Kai Viet to the north and the Khmer to the south and their history is one of conflict. India is thousands of miles away from this site but because of coastal trade routes, Hinduism was the dominant culture here for many centuries.
