This is Preah Ko, or "Sacred Ox", and is part of the Roluos Group of monuments lying about 20 km SW of Angkor Wat.

They are the oldest sites in the area, dating back to the 9th century AD, when the cult of the Devaraja, or God-King, began, and they mark the beginning of the "classic period" of Khmer art and architecture.

Nothing before this has survived. Preah Ko is the funerary temple of Jayavarman I.
