For decades no one in their right mind would visit Cambodia even if they could! It was only in the 1990s that tourism gradually resumed. No one is keeping records, but it's estimated that close to a million people visited Angkor Wat last year, and the number is growing by leaps and bounds.

Hotel construction in Siem Reap is trying to keep pace. This one is small compared to some of the behemoths we saw going up. Can the temples handle this kind of invasion? Not for long, is my guess.
