From the 8th century until 1492 Muslim Moors and European Christians battled for control of the Iberian peninsula. At times they existed in harmony, at times they were at war. At times one group was on top, at times another. But Moorish influence in southern Spain was always strong.

Every major town in Andalucía has an alcázar, or royal fortress. This one's in Seville but a lot of the work was done by the same artists who worked on the Alhambra of Grenada.
