Mangroves are amazing. They thrive in the brackish waters along tropical coastlines and they provide a home for thousands of sea, land and air species - including flamingos.

They also make a great coastal buffer zone. If New York and New Jersey had mangroves, hurricane Sandy wouldn't have had nearly the impact it did. Unfortunately, they don't grow that far north.
