I'm pleased to report they were wrong. This is Dzibilnococ today. As you can see it's in a better state of repair than either Stephens or Catherwood would dare have imagined.

The name means "Place of the Painted Vault". The names of these sites and monuments are often modern inventions given when no one knows their original moniker.
