In the dawn hours of the morning following the full moon, Tak Baat begins. Thousands of monks wait to receive food and money from tens of thousands of donors.

These benefactors do not bestow their goodies upon any specific monk, there is no connection between the givers and the getters - not even eye contact. The donors are hoping that by showing this anonymous generosity they will improve their standing in their lives to come. That's what this holiday is all about.

As the trays and bowls fill up, the monks pour the proceeds into plastic bags at their feet. This movie captures a small part of it. Acres of land have been given over to this event.
