As you head north, Vang Vieng is where Laos gets more mountainous and so it's more difficult to grow things. For food, there's rice, some meat and whatever can be foraged from the forests.

These are not dairy cows, there is no dairy to speak of in Laos. The milk, cheese and butter we buy in the "falang" shops usually come from Thailand or Australia.
