This is Highway 13. The largest and longest road in Laos. It's the equivalent of the A-14 in Italy or the I-95 in the States. It stretches through the whole country from north to south. There are no fancy cloverleafs or overpasses, it's a pretty dusty potholed mess along many stretches. The end of the rainy season is the worst. No matter where you want to go, you're in for a long, slow, bone-jarring ride. A trip of 100 km can take over 3 hours. As for the secondary roads -- I'll leave that to your imagination. JoJo and I, along with a couple of friends, headed north for a weekend excursion to Vang Vieng. |
