Every night in downtown Vientiane, between our new apartment and the river, merchants set up their tents, their lights and their wares. Some of it is junk, but there are gems as well.

As with everything you buy in Laos, prices are negotiable. A merchant will start off with a price that I figure is about 3x what it should be. it's my job to get them down to at least ½ their original price, and with persistence I can get them down further. It's part of the fun of shopping here.
