Who doesn't love fireworks? And with Buon Bang Fai everything is homemade - including the rockets, the decorations, the fuel and even the launch tower. These things shoot up hundreds of meters into the air and can land a dozen kilometers downwind of their launch site.

There isn't one unique day for this festival. Each village decides when to do it, but it's always during the 6th lunar month -- May/June which marks the beginning of the year's rice cultivation. You need serious rain before rice can be planted.
