All Souls Day

There are 26 cemeteries in the town of Spoleto - each a walled city complete with cypresses, mausoleums and cherubic statuary.

The first 2 days of November are set aside to remember deceased friends and relatives and to decorate their gravesites with flowers - mostly chrysanthemums.

Although moving, I don't find it nearly as intense as Mexico's Dia del los Muertos where family members gather around the tombs of friends and relatives and commune with them throughout the night with food, drink, song and prayer.
