Umbria, our region of Italy, is known as Terra dei Santi - Land of the Saints. The most famous by far is Francis of Assisi, patron saint of Italy and the name of the new pope.

But there's a whole host of other saints from this area from early Roman martyrs to the head of the Benedictine Order.

And the distaff side is well represented with Santa Rita, the unofficial patron saint of baseball, and Santa Chiara, the patron saint of television, though she lived about 7 centuries before its invention. Go figure.
