This year, Dassara was from the 12th to the 21st of October. Tourists from all over India and the world filled the city's hotels and every night music and dance performances were held at various venues around town.

The last day was the grand procession. We sprung for the VIP seats right in front of the palace reviewing stand. Thousands of others did the same and tens of thousands more lined the streets of Mysore for a glimpse of the caparisoned elephants, Horse Guards in all their finery, marching bands, floats, acrobats and more, that paraded by, one after another, for over an hour. In the evening an enormous fireworks display capped off events.
