Your afternoon cup of tea could very well begin here - on the terraced hillsides of the Western Ghats in Tamil Nadu. The tea plants are manicured to a height of about 2 feet. New shoots and leaves are regularly clipped, dried and sold. White oaks offer the right amount of shade. This is one of the many extraordinary views from the train. It was the tea growers of these hillsides that originally funded the Blue Mountain Railway. |
