Miss February wears her years well. She doesn't look a day over a thousand and yet she's been giving milk here in Mamallapuram since the 7th century AD. And by her side is none other than Krishna on the milking stool and a calf to encourage her to produce. What a life!

Cows have been sacred a long time in these parts. But why cows? There's the obvious reason, cows provide milk for food and dung for fuel. But sheep and goats do the same, why not them? The answer, and the only answer I know: Cows have 3,000 Gods within them. Miss February knows them all by name, we're sure.
