This is the Mahalaxshim Dhobi Ghat and these are the Bombay dhobiwallahs at work doing the laundry for some of the 18+ million people who live in this city.

This doesn't involve putting some coins in a machine - dhobiwallahs first get the duds all sudsy and then proceed to whack the hell out them either by slapping them against the low concrete sides of the pools or pummeling them with something that looks like a cricket bat.
