From Guayaquil we headed west to the coast. Mainland Ecuador has 3 distinct areas. The Pacific coast, the Andes highlands and the Oriente (Amazon Basin). We plan to spend some time in all three.

This is sunset in the sleepy hamlet of Ayampe on the coast where we spent a week. There are a surprising number of surfers and hippies living here among the native population. It's a place where "chilling" is a way of life.
