What ping-pong did for US-China relations years ago, baseball - or beisbol - may be doing today in Cuba. We went to an exhibition game one morning at the Estadio LatinoAmericano here in Havana.

The Penn State University team came to play the Ciega de Avila team. The latter won 2-0, but Penn State played well. There were about 1,000 in attendance and for $3 we had front row seats by the away team dugout where a woman from Penn told me it was not all that easy to arrange this game but that it was in fact a part of détente.
