The town of Tigre is an hour train ride northwest of downtown Buenos Aires. Its heyday was a hundred years ago when it was a glamorous playground for the international elite. It went into decline after a 1933 law closed the Tigre Club casino, but it's made a comeback in recent years and is now a popular weekend destination for Porteños. Many beautiful old building from those bygone days are still centers of kayaking, canoeing and sculling. |
