700 km northwest of Buenos Aires is Córdoba, Argentina's second city. It was founded in 1573 and it wasn't long before the Jesuits moved in and put it on the map.

As in most Argentine cities, the center of town is Plaza San Martin, named after José de San Martin, or El Libertador, as he's sometimes known. Why? I'm not sure. He had nearly nothing to do with the liberation of Argentina.

The plaza and the buildings surrounding it date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
