I enjoyed trying to get lost (not at all difficult) in the narrow, twisted alleyways of Islamic Cairo, with all its mosques, minarets, madrassas, mihrabs, mausoleums and hammams - not to mention Mashrabiyyas - that's the lattice screen covering the front of houses so that women could see out without being seen.
